“I’m visiting Europe during the Summer, what tournaments can I go to?”
Someone asks a question like this every day – and struggles to find the answer because there’s no complete events calendar. While we have to crystal ball to look forward, HEMA ratings has a fairly complete set of information about what’s happened before – and has provided us with the data to create the HEMA Tournament Finder., This simple tool can help you find the event you want, for anything from Open Longsword to Flail & Buckler.
FAQs
How can I link to or share the report?
If you intend to reference or link this report I recommend using this permanent link instead of the PowerBI link at the top:
https://links.historicalfencingresearch.com/tournament-finder
If you want to embed the report on a webpage you can use an iframe and it will appear (as above – or hopefully better if you have a better template than me!)
What can I use this for?
The main purpose is to help people find events that interest them, but you can use it for whatever you like. The report is published as Creative Commons By Attribution – use it for whatever you link, just credit Historical Fencing Research and HEMA Ratings when you do.
Can I just get the data in a spreadsheet?
Unfortunately not – exporting data is disabled in the Publish to Web feature that this uses, and producing the file separately is a bit of a pain. I may look at a periodic release in future if there’s enough interest. However, if you have a PowerBI licence and know what to do with it get in touch and I can discuss giving you access to the semantic model (if HEMA ratings agrees).
Can I get XYZ Feature?
The best way to get a feature on the backlog is to donate through Ko-Fi and request it in the comments. You can also submit requests through the contact from on the Support our Work page and/or donate through the product linked on the same page. If a lot of donations come in for HEMA Ratings reports I’ll create a development backlog and continually improve the options.
